Head of Compliance

Client: Highly Regarded Emerging Markets Bank
Location: London

Manage the Compliance and Regulatory Reporting functions of the bank in close collaboration with the UK CEO and Global Compliance Head;

Have strong technical knowledge of the regulatory framework of the FSA and EU applicable to banks operating in the London market and ensure compliance therewith; and

Liaise with the Group Head of Compliance to advise on group wide issues and ensure that the compliance and regulatory framework employed by the UK business meets the requirements of the Head Office regulatory authority.

The position requires an innovative and highly hands-on approach in the development of new systems and procedures.

Desired Skills & Experience

  • At least 10 years compliance preferably with the UK branch or subsidiary of an international bank with professional qualification. Legal knowledge or experience/network would be desirable.
  • The successful candidate will have held responsibility for the FSA regulated Compliance Oversight (CF10) and Money Laundering Reporting (CF11) functions previously and be capable of meeting the FSA’s current “Fit and Proper test for Approved Persons”.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the FSA Handbook
  • Have previously held responsibility as MLRO for a UK bank with a diverse international client base involving enhanced KYC and managing PEPs.
  • Have an established network of contacts across the London compliance and legal community
  • Experience of the UK & EU regulatory framework.
  • Able to work as part of a small multi-cultural team.
